BASCA Trust trustee Sarah Rodgers recognized with Gold Badge Award

We are delighted to congratulate BASCA Trust trustee Sarah Rodgers for being awarded a Gold Badge Award.

Sarah Rodgers is a composer whose music has been played across 5 continents. Alongside a busy and successful composing career, she has dedicated herself to championing music creators, being elected as Chairman of both the Composers’ Guild of Great Britain and the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA).

She has represented writers on cultural exchanges, at the European Commission, at select committees in the UK parliament and at countless conferences and round-table discussions. Sarah was the first woman appointed to the Board of MCPS and remained a Writer Director for 17 years during which time she sat on the MCPS-PRS Executive Board for 12 years.

In 2003, as Chair of BASCA’s Classical Committee, Sarah founded the British Composer Awards and led their development for the first 11 years, an achievement of which she is particularly proud. She has been Trustee for many charities. In addition to her work as a BASCA Trust trustee, Sarah is a committee member of the PRS for Music Members Benevolent Fund.

Each year Professional BASCA members are invited to nominate individuals to receive a Gold Badge Award. These nominations are reviewed by the Gold Badge Awards Committee and recipients are announced a month before the ceremony. The Gold Badge Awards returned for their 45th year and took place at The Savoy in London on Friday 19th October 2018.
